Greg Kobylak – Science Teacher
I love kids and I love science. It was a natural for me to choose this career. Each day for 16 years I have walked into the door at Fruitport High School and been happy to do my job teaching kids about Chemistry, Science and Life. I support the vision of Fruitport high School where our goal is to prepare students to be responsible, respectful, productive citizens in an ever-changing, global society. In fact I am busy doing that right now.
I enjoy each day using Chemistry as the tool for students to learn. We even play (I mean learn) with fire and explosions. Besides teaching 10th grade Chemistry, I also teach AP Chemistry, lead the Boys Soccer Program as Head Varsity Coach, serve as science department rep and I am a member of the school leadership team.
I grew up in Troy MI and my first taste of the great West Michigan life came during my college days at Hope College. Since then I have made my home in the along with my wife Joy and three kids (Kyla, Kaden and Selah).
I earned my BA degree from Hope College (Biology, Chemistry and Education). I later earned my MS degree from GVSU in Secondary Education Learning. I myself enjoy learning each day and continue to take part in a variety of professional organizations with the lifelong goal of continued growth and development in my personal and professional life.
When I am not working I love to travel. If I am in the area, on my free time you can probably find me at a local soccer field playing or coaching. I also enjoy all kids of sports and love to cheer on the Wolverines. At work and at home it is always GO BLUE!
Nothing makes my life feel more complete then when I am serving others. I get to do that as a father and husband, through my local church, on service trips and as an Educator at Fruitport High School.
